From the New York International Bridal Week: an interview with Jude Jowilson
At the New York International Bridal Week at Pier 92 i had the chance to meet this wonderful designer, Jude Jowilson, who creates gorgeous and sophisticated dresses. I felt in love with his artworks and Jude’s kindness, so i decided to ask him for an interview to better know his work.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
I’m originally from the Philippines. When I was little I was already
interested in fashion and bridal dresses. I was able to follow that dream
to create my own line and open a bridal boutique in Cebu City. I was
hungry to get more knowledge about fashion, so I moved to New York City to
further my studies. Three years ago, with my husband as my business
partner, we launched our bridal line. Our aesthetic is classic, timeless,
sophisticated with a couture feel. We felt it was important to make the
dresses here in the USA/NYC.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
The design process, and finally seeing a real bride wearing my vision.
What is your current favorite fabric?
Chantilly lace.
Bridal trends 2017: What’s New, what’s next?
New: Textures, capes, and modular elements.
Next: Classic lace will still be around, and there will be non-traditional colors (pink, blue or floral) and trousers.
Where we can find your dresses?
We have stores that carry our line in New York City; Birmingham,
Michigan; Yarmouth, Maine; Seoul,South Korea; and we will be coming to
Carlsbad, California; and Baltimore, Maryland soon! Check our website
for store locations.
Any great stories from working with a bride?
I just love when I get to see a bride with tears of happiness, when they
see or find their dream wedding dress.
Thank you Jude for the interview. It was a pleasure meeting you!
Talk to you soon,
Sandra ?
